Hartlauer Präzisions Elektronik GmbH (HPE) manufactures power supplies in the high-power and high-voltage range. Our particular strengths lie in high-precision capacitor chargers with extreme repetition rates, floating precise DC power supplies and compact pulse sources.

HPE develops and manufactures products for a wide range of applications that may seem inconspicuous in everyday use, but are hard to beat in terms of performance.

Our devices are developed individually according to customer specifications for use in medical technology, industry and laboratories. In all these industries, HPE can draw on many years of experience and a large number of successful projects with well-known manufacturers.


As an owner-managed SME (small and medium-sized enterprise), we strive for the greatest possible depth of development and production. Although this contradicts some current trends, it demonstrates our efforts to build up more and more knowledge and skills in order to be able to offer our customers the best possible partnership.

What drives us: pushing the limits of what is technically possible.


We often find ourselves in a position where we are asked to provide a sophisticated power supply, even though the exact load parameters are not yet defined. Space and cooling conditions are often extremely limited for the given task—not to mention the budget. We see this as a challenge and take great pleasure in finding the right solution.


A competitor once claimed, “You don’t have to build sexy power supplies.” We disagreed.

Performance Range (in series production)

HPE power supplies cover a wide range of performance requirements:


  • Power output from just a few watts up to 20 kW, with the flexibility to achieve even higher power levels as needed.
  • Voltage levels tailored to application requirements, reaching up to 35 kV
  • More is always possible.


High-Voltage Generation

We offer multiple high-voltage generation methods to ensure optimal performance for each application:


  •  Air, epoxy-potted, or oil-insulated high-voltage outputs.
  •  Forced Air, radiated Heat or Water-cooled Elektronics, we cool it down the way you want

Power Factor Correction (PFC)

To ensure high efficiency and compliance with international power quality standards, HPE integrates single-phase and three-phase PFCs in almost all of its products.

Medical

For medical power supplies, minimal electromagnetic interference, high insulation resistance, low leakage currents, and high precision are crucial. To ensure our devices meet these requirements, we adhere to exceptionally high quality standards. This process begins with the precise definition of the specifications and interfaces of each device, is accompanied by a thorough risk analysis to minimize potential hazards, and is ultimately completed with a type examination by renowned testing organizations (EN 60601 at LGA Bavaria).

Science

Your requirements, whether special physical conditions or specific interfaces are quickly implemented by our development department. Depending on the application scenario and customer requirements, various topologies are available. Our devices operate in different modes: hard-switched without resonance, zero-point switched with resonance, or using so-called relief circuits. They can be pulse-width modulated (PWM), frequency-shifted, phase-shifted, phase-cut, LLC or linear whatever the application suits best.

HPE brings over 30 years of experience in the development and manufacturing of power supplies for demanding industrial applications. Our high-voltage power supplies stand out for their low weight and compact design while delivering extremely high performance. Our product range covers everything from robust, low-cost gas filter power supplies to high-end excimer laser power supplies for display manufacturing.

All circuit topologies, cooling concepts, layouts, software, inductive components, embedding techniques (oil or potting), housing technology, etc. are developed in-house.

Project management

Good communication is basis for a successful project together. We use circuit simulations and 3D models to to setup tasks and communication within the team. For that we use LTSpice, Altium and SolidWorks.


In accordance to the quality principle of ISO 9001, we are working for our products and for our customers towards a continuous performance improvement.

Production

Every HPE employee adds many years of experience to our production line. To manufacture all the components, continuous trainings are required and maintained.


We are a bit proud of our minimal employee fluctuation. The skills we built up here is the fuel for further progress. 

Service

The service for our high quality product starts in the planning phase and accompanies you during the term. During the individual adjustment and in all production phases and operating phases of your HPE device, you can rely 100% on the consulting, support and maintenance provided by our engineers. 

All neuralgic components are developed and manufactured in-house.


We use state-of-the-art tools: 3D CAD CAM with Altium and Solid Works, 3D printing, Scheugenpflug vacuum casting machine, Transformer winding Machine for layer and cross windings, Vapor-phase soldering, toroidal pullwinder, our own injection molds for chamber bobbins and our own HV connectors.

Depending on the power requirements, we know lots of different possibilities to work towards a successful realisation, plus our knowledge of the markets could always be a help for potential customers. Either way if the go with us or even a different way. In case the specs are not complete, we can determine, if there is a need for a low cost, cheap and dirty solution or an outstanding high performance product. You can rely on our expertise to get closer to find the right power and production source.

Our technical and logistic know-how ensures long life cycles of the products. We only use the best components from validated sources. Even for the oldest devices we offer a comprehensive service.
